Walk For Vets

Starting at 9AM on Saturday September 20th and ending on the 21st at 11am, Division 9 Brother Chad Lennon will walk from the Orient Fire Department to Armed Forces Plaza in Hauppauge. He will be carrying both the American Flag and the Veteran Suicide Awareness and Remembrance (SAR) flag. The 66-mile walk is to bring awareness to Veteran suicide in Suffolk County.

The Fall State Board Meeting

The Fall State Board Meeting will be held in Troy, NY on Saturday November 8, 2025. We will start with 10:00 AM Mass at St. Augustine Church, 25 115TH ST TROY, NY 12182 . The Mass will be offered for Peter Durkee, Past NYS President, and other deceased members of the AOH. Immediately after Mass we will lay a wreath at the monument to James Connolly, signer of the Irish Proclamation, and executed after the 1916 Easter Rising. Connolly lived in Troy on 2 occasions and the Troy Division is named after him.

The Fall meeting will be at 12:00 Noon at the Veterans of Lansingburgh, 777 1ST AVE TROY NY 12182, (518) 233-8656. Past NYS President Edward Carley from Troy will join us at the meeting.

Lockport NY Irsih Heritage Day

Saturday, July 12th The City of Lockport has proclaimed July 12th as Irish Heritage Day, celebrating 200 years of Irish Heritage & the Erie Canal in Lockport.

Join us from 9 AM to 2 PM at the Lockport Community Farmers Market on Canal Street, where we will have a tent set up. You can stop by to talk with some of our members and you can learn about who we are as an organization and what we do for the Lockport community.

From 11am – 1 PM we will be doing the Lock Tending Demonstration with the LAOH at the restored Flight of Five locks including locking through a Durham-style vessel, the Erie Traveler. Everyone is welcome to come watch the demonstrations to learn and see the history of the Locks and the Erie Canal.

ND-BG consistently has a 100% graduation rate. Graduates of ND-BG include many Professional, Civic, and Business Leaders (and many Hibernians!).

The Allegany County NY AOH Division #1 is again having our 11th annual Western New York State Irish Road Bowling tournament. Our 1.2 mile Irish Road Bowling site is on Kilbane Road in the Town of Andover, NY where the Andover Rod & Gun Club is located, mid course. Event Registration is from 10 am-3;30 pm on Saturday June 14th and the cost is $30 per each 2 person team/$20 for teams 16 and under. The 28 ounce bowl/cannonballs are available to rent in this fewest combined bowl throws wins. This is a family oriented event in the beautiful hills of Allegany County New York. Food and beverages are available for purchase mid course at the Andover Rod & Gun Club on the course. Please wear comfortable shoes or sneakers. The course takes approximately 90-110 minutes to complete. Medals will be awarded for 6 classes including 10 ands under, 16 and under, Mens open, Women's Open, Mixed Doubles and Senior categories. The East Durham Irish Festival, one of the longest-running in the U.S., is celebrating its 48th year in 2025.

And this year's Memorial Day weekend festival is lining up "non stop Irish performers" on four stages Saturday and Sunday May 24 and 25, and a Friday free festival kick off sing song session at 6 p.m. 

Michael English, I Draw Slow, the Prodigals, Irish Lassies and over 20 bands and performers are the ingredients for a rousing Irish Music Experience, said a release from organizers. 

According to the release, Father Fragomeni will be saying Mass on Sunday at 10 a.m. This will be his 45th year at the festival.

The festival fare promises a Kids and Irish Cultural tent with Irish Language and music lessons, Irish crafts and much more.

This year’s festival honoree is the late Michael Farrell, founder of the Farrell School of Irish Dance. 
The festival is held at the Michael J. Quill Irish Cultural Centre, 2267 Route 145. Tickets at EastDurhamIrishfestival.com and at the gate.

STUFF THE BUS 2025

At the Spring Board meetings in East Durham (May 3, 2025), the AOH and LAOH will be holding the Second Annual “Stuff the Bus!” food collection to benefit the students and families who benefit from the Backpack Program in the Cairo-Durham Central School District.  There are many families in the district who struggle with food insecurity, and school backpack programs provide food items over a weekend and during summer when schools are not in session.

Peanut butter, Jelly, tuna, soups (Ramen and Cup of Soup), Spaghetti O’s, pasta, sauce, Jello and pudding snack packs, snack-size cookies, chips and pretzels, microwave popcorn, granola bars, cereal bars. Pop Tarts, fruit cups, single serve cereal, juice boxes, instant oatmeal, Raisins, and dried fruit.

STAND UP FOR LIFE is on RESPECT LIFE SUNDAY ,

Long Island's largest Pro-Life assembly will line the sidewalks at two locations:

- In Huntington, standing east and south from the intersection of State Route 110 and State Route 25.

- In Manorville, on the sidewalk just south of Long Island Expressway Exit 70 on County Road 111.

The events at Huntington and Manorville Long Island draw hundreds of participants to this family friendly event.
We are standing up for the value of all human life, especially the lives of vulnerable preborn babies.

Additionally, we remind everyone witnessing this event, there are many pregnancy care centers on Long Island where women facing unplanned pregnancies can get the help they need to keep their babies.
