The Albany Freedom for All Ireland (FFAI) Committee invites you to join us at our 25th annual FFAI fundraiser on Friday, November 20th, 2026. This event raises funds to support programs that promote peace, progress. and justice in the north of Ireland. We are especially honored this year as our speaker and honoree is Belfast's own MP, John Finucane.
John Finucane is a Sinn Fein politician and solicitor who represents Belfast North in British Parliament. He is a trained, and practicing, human rights lawyer - following in his father Patrick Finucane’s footsteps. You may be aware that Patrick Finucane was assassinated by loyalist paramilitaries in 1989 while representing Irishmen who were interned by the British government without formal charges or trials.
John Finucane has been at the forefront of Troubles reconciliation and legacy justice in Ireland his entire life. He is a tireless advocate and pursuer of justice in the north of Ireland and beyond. Finucane has served his community and the Irish cause, not only as MP and solicitor, but also as Belfast City Council member, former Lord Mayor of Belfast, and panelist on many U.S. Congressional hearings regarding the Troubles, its legacy, and the future of Ireland. MP Finucane’s dedication and resolve in advocating for the rights and freedom of marginalized groups and individuals in the north of Ireland is an inspiration to the Irish and Irish-American Community in Albany and around the world.
We hope you are able to join us on November 20th, as this year's honoree is one of the most auspicious to visit and speak in Albany in some time. We also hope you support this event and cause by sending in a Journal Ad. The funds raised by this event go directly to charities actively seeking justice and fostering progress in the north of Ireland. Attached to this email is our event announcement and journal ad flyer.
