Observation of the 25th Anniversary of September 11, 2001.
There were 18 Hibernians killed that morning, (9) from NY and (9) from NJ; 17 AOH Members and 1 LAOH Member; Florence Gregory from Kings County LAOH Division 22 NY.
11:00 AM Mass at St. Peter's Church,
22 Barclay Street, Lower Manhattan
St. Peters is a couple of blocks from the WTC.
It is the Church where they carried the body of Fr. Michael Judge to, on the morning of 9/11. There is a large bronze plaque in the Vestibule of St. Peters listing all (18) Hibernians killed (A Picture of the plaque is attached.) Any AOH / LAOH Chaplains are welcome to concelebrate the Mass.
From St. Peters we will process to:
The Irish Hunger Memorial, lay a wreath
WTC reflecting pools , lay a 2nd wreath
FDNY "Ten House", lay a 3rd Wreath
Then to Stout FiDi (Financial District) at 90 John Street for a Repast.
The total distance is about a mile, split into ¼ mile increments. The procession should be over by 2:00 PM.
Laguardia Airport is the closest airport.
We have not made arrangements with any Hotels. There are plenty of Hotels in lower Manhattan, within a 1/2 mile. Some are very reasonable, some expensive. I am sure you can find a hotel with whatever chain you have points with. I am staying at the it is part of the Hilton Chain.
