Commodore John Barry September report
Brothers, hoping all have enjoyed your family time and warm summertime, while staying safe and well. On September 13th we will commemorate a day dedicated to a great Irish-American naval officer, in the words of President Reagan, “Now, Therefore, I, Ronald Reagan, President of the United States of America, do hereby designate September 13, 1981, as “Commodore John Barry Day”, as a tribute to one of the earliest and greatest American Patriots, a man of great insight who perceived very early the need for American power on the sea.”
Commodore John Barry Day is an AOH National Holiday. It is my hope and desire for every Ancient Order of Hibernians Division in New York State to acknowledge this day in some way (ie. Irish Flag Raising, Facebook posting, newspaper article, etc).
Please send photos, brief notation, and a write up of your Division’s Remembrance of Commodore John Barry Day. The “Father of American Navy.” Email aoh1wtn@gmail.com
