The 9th Annual Firefighter Sean Tallon Memorial Gaelic Sports Tournament will be held on Sunday, November 5, 2017, 10:45 AM at The Rockland GAA Field in Orangeburg, New York. The tournament is conducted under the jurisdiction and direction of The New York Gaelic Athletic Association Minor Board. The tournament will host over 30 youth teams competing in Gaelic Football and Hurling. The teams that will be participating will come from the 5 Boroughs of New York City, as well as teams from Westchester, Rockland, New Jersey, and Connecticut. It is expected that overall there will be over 250 youths participating in the tournament. There will be 3 Football Divisions and 1 Hurling Division, with a trophy/cup presented to each Division Champion. All participating players will receive an AOH Tournament Medal.
The tournament is possible due to a tremendous collective effort from various AOH County Boards and Divisions from The Greater New York City area. This year, the tournament is co-sponsored by The GAA Minor Board, The AOH Bronx County Board, The AOH New York County Board, The AOH Queens County Board, The AOH Westchester County Board, AOH Division #18 of Peekskill, and The AOH Myles Scully Division #1 of Yonkers, NY.
The Tournament is dedicated to the memory and legacy of FDNY Firefighter Sean Patrick Tallon, a native of Yonkers, NY who lost his life responding to the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001. The AOH Division #9 New York County sponsored a “Month’s Mind” Memorial Mass for the late Martin McGuiness at St. Patrick’s Cathedral on May 24th, 2017. The mass drew many Irish American Community leaders, as well as current and past Political Leaders from both sides of the Atlantic.
The Reverend Monsignor Robert Ritchie, Pastor of St. Patrick’s Cathedral, was the principal celebrant of the mass, which included readings by AOH National Director Sean Pender, and Sinn Fein Deputy Leader Mary Lou McDonald. Former Special Envoy Senator George Mitchell delivered the eulogy.

The Archdiocese of New York will hold it’s Annual Respect Life Mass on October 4, 2015 at St. Patrick’s Cathedral in New York City at 10:15am. This mass will once again be co-sponsored by The New York State Ancient Order of Hibernians and The Sisters of Life Religious Order.
Members of The Order are requested to line up on the steps of The Cathedral starting at 9:30am. The assembly location will be at the North side of the Cathedral on 51st St. close to 5th Ave. Dress code for this event is dark conservative suits. AOH and LAOH members are encouraged to bring their medallions and sashes.
There will be a breakfast hosted by The AOH NY County Board after Mass. The breakfast will be held at Maggie’s Place, 21 East 47th Street, located just 2 blocks from the Cathedral. The cost will be $25.00 per member and will include breakfast, coffee, tea etc. There will also be a cash bar available. Please notify Tom Beirne if you plan on attending breakfast after the mass.

The AOH New York County Board will be hosting an informal meeting and BBQ at The Basilica of St. Patrick’s Old Cathedral on Thursday, May 22, 2014 at 7:00pm. The AOH will be meeting with The Knights of Columbus for an informal meet and greet and discussion to explore avenues of cooperation between the two organizations to support one another involving Veteran’s Affairs. The meeting will also be attended by Jessica Byran of The “Step Into Their Boots” program. Emily Toro, a Gold Star Mother, will also be present at the meeting. Together, ideas, programs and avenues of cooperation will be explored in order to sponsor create events in support of American Veterans.
