Proclamations were presented by Suffolk County Legislator Tom Cilmi, and New York State Senator Phil Boyle. Representing Mr. Boyle was Division 7 Member, Dennis Bennet. The recipients of the proclamations were Joseph Horton and Richard Mackey, who are both Korean War Veterans.

Also in attendance were Suffolk LAOH President Pat Cremmins, Vice-President Alice Faughnan, and Catholic Action, Cindy Haugland.

“I wish to thank all who took the time to come down and support our vets and honor them which was a long overdue thank you for many of them.” said Cathy Doherty, “It was such an honor to be among these veterans, taking time to thank them for their sacrifices and getting to know them and hear their stories. Some really remarkable and brave people. There could never be enough memorials, medals and parades to make up for what our veterans sacrificed. So, for now we simply say thank you, as we live each day in the freedom they have preserved.”

President’s Message for September 2016

Tim McSweeney

I hope everyone is enjoying the last days summer. I’ll remember the summer of 2016 as the summer that New York State AOH went unified to the National Convention and came home successful. The tremendously successful election of Dan Dennehy and Liam McNabb as National Directors, proved that NYS voting as one voice is the way to go. But, Dan and Liam didn’t get elected because they are from NY; they were elected because they are truly worthy leaders. I’d be remiss if I did not thank Brendan Moore and Chip McLean who completed very successful tenures on the National Board. (And Congrats to Chip on his retirement after 38 years with the FDNY) I look forward to seeing everyone in Albany in November.

President Timothy McSweeney
