In Memoriam: John Juhren of Division #1 Schenectady

 

 

It is with sadness that I inform you of the passing of Brother John Juhren. John joined the Schenectady AOH in 1979 and has served as Division President as well as many other offices within the Division. He was NYS AOH District #1 Director and for many years served as the Upstate New York Coordinator for Project Children. John was a member of the Schenectady Major Degree Team, a position in which he took great pride. In addition, John was a National Life Member in the Ancient Order of Hibernians.

A wake will be held at Gleason Funeral Home, 730 State Street, Schenectady, on Thursday, February 22nd, from 4:00 to 7:00 PM. A Hibernian Service is scheduled for 6:30 PM. A Mass will be celebrated at St. John the Evangelist Church, 806 Union Street, Schenectady, on Friday, February 23rd, at Noon.

Annual Jack Burns Memorial Golf Tournament

Schenectady AOH Division 1 is hosting the 21st Annual Jack Burns Memorial Golf Tournament on Saturday, October 7, 2017. The fundraiser will be held at Briar Creek Golf Course, 2347 Pangburn Road, Princetown, NY 12056. The cost is $75.00 per person. 4th Generation Schenectady President Awarded National Life Membership

On November 19th, National Director Liam McNabb awarded Schenectady JFK Division #1 Past President Mike Glenn with National Life Membership during the Schenectady Installation Dinner. Currently, Mike is the Chairman of the Schenectady Major Degree Team.  Mike began in the AOH as a Junior member and is a 4th generation Division President. Mike’s Great Grandfather Patrick Glenn served as Division President of Schenectady in 1903. Also that evening, John Humphries was honored as Division #1 Hibernian of the Year.

Members of the AOH of Schenectady prove eating chili can help cure Diabetes!

 

The members of AOH Division #1 of Schenectady held their 1st Annual Chili Cook Off to help raise money to fund Diabetes research. Chefs from around the local area were invited to the AOH Hall where attendees sampled many different and unique versions of the comfort food favorite.

Funds raised went to help The Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation of Northeastern New York.
