On November 19th, National Director Liam McNabb awarded Schenectady JFK Division #1 Past President Mike Glenn with National Life Membership during the Schenectady Installation Dinner. Currently, Mike is the Chairman of the Schenectady Major Degree Team. Mike began in the AOH as a Junior member and is a 4th generation Division President. Mike’s Great Grandfather Patrick Glenn served as Division President of Schenectady in 1903. Also that evening, John Humphries was honored as Division #1 Hibernian of the Year.
Hibernians Serve Chili to Help Diabetes Research
The members of AOH Division #1 of Schenectady held their 1st Annual Chili Cook Off to help raise money to fund Diabetes research. Chefs from around the local area were invited to the AOH Hall where attendees sampled many different and unique versions of the comfort food favorite.
Funds raised went to help The Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation of Northeastern New York.

The event was a tremendous success and promises to now become an annual event which is sure to grow!
Schenectady Division #1 Installs Officers for 2016
The end of the calendar year brings a sense of renewal within The Ancient Order of Hibernians, as Divisions across New York State begin to install their respective officers for the upcoming year. The installation ceremonies season began as it always does in Schenectady as The John F. Kennedy Division #1 hosted their Annual Officer Installation Ceremony this past weekend.
It was the 135th Installation of Officers for the John F. Kennedy AOH Division #1 in Schenectady, and the 114th for the Ladies Ancient Order of Hibernians. Incoming Presidents Kathy Turk of the Ladies and Jim Scott of the Men both spoke of the long tradition of dedication of Hibernianism in Schenectady, and both pledged to continue this fine tradition and look forward to the coming year of working together.
The AOH also awarded member Dave Connelly the Hibernian of the Year Award, a distinguished honor bestowed on a worthy recipient.
The Men’s AOH were installed by New York State President Tim McSweeney assisted by National Director Charles “Chip” McLean, under the guard of the Capital District AOH Honor Guard and Marshals Past AOH New York State Presidents Peter Durkee and Mike McNabb. The Ladies AOH were installed by National LAOH Treasurer and NYS President Karen Keane, with the Capital District Trinity Degree Team serving as Marshals.

The event will be held in the Central Park Pavilion, food and drink will be available for purchase.
There will be live entertainment featuring music provided by Who’s Your Paddy, The Fiddler’s Tour, The Schenectady Pipe Band and others. There will also be a performance by The Farrell School of Irish Dance.
Other groups that will participate in the event include The Schenectady County Sheriff’s Office, New York State Police, The Schenectady Fire department and local History groups.

The Officer and Members of The John F. Kennedy Division 1 of Schenectady will host The Annual Bill Dollard Golf Outing on Saturday, September 6th at The Briar Creek Golf Course in Duanesburg, New York.
Tee off time is 10:30am.
The event includes 18 holes of golf with cart, lunch at the turn with dinner to follow at The Hibernian Hall, 1748 State Street in Schenectady.
There will be plenty of prizes, raffles and lots of fun for everyone while raising money for a great cause.
The cost is $90.00 per person or $340.00 for a foursome with a portion of the proceeds going to benefit the Wounded Warriors/ Patriot Hills. Payment must be received by August 29th.
There are also Tee Sponsorships available for $50.00 per tee.
