New Junior Division Established in Orange County

The Joseph Duelk, Jr., Division 1 in Monroe, Orange County held an organizational meeting, of the “First Lt. Louis Allen – Junior Division 1 of Orange County” on January 21, 2017. Eighteen boys signed the application to form the Junior Division. Pictured in the photo (in no order) are some of the newly installed members of the Junior Division, Declan DeBold, Anthony Melo, Liam Ronayne, Timothy Curtin, Harry Degan, William Coffey, Shane Cronin, Conor Flynn, Luke Cronin and Edward Degan. Also present are members of Joseph Duelk Jr. Division 1, (seated L/R), Tom Keahon, President Tommy Flynn, Robert Allen, Rob Ronayne and Tom McDonald, AOH Orange County President. Standing in back: Chris DeBold, Tim Curtain and John Coffey. Vice President Neil O’Riordan (not pictured) will advise and guide the new members.

The division was named in memory of 1st Lt. Louis Allen, New York Army National Guard, who was killed on June 7, 2005, at Forward Operating Base Danger in Tikrit, Iraq. 1st Lieutenant Allen was a member of the United States 42nd Infantry Division when he was mortally wounded by a Claymore mine and died.

In attendance was Vivian and Robert Allen the parents of Lt. Louis Allen.  The father of Lt. Louis Allen had the honor of initiating the new members.

     Yesterday, the Ancient Order of Hibernians Joseph Duelk, Jr. Division #1, Monroe, New York had a Memorial Mass at St. Mary’s R.C. Church in Memory of Joseph Duelk, Jr., who died in Vietnam on June 14, 1968.

     The Hibernians then visited his graveside at St. Mary’s Cemetery and placed a wreath at his VA Marker and offered prayers for the repose of his soul. Brother Jim Kelly played the Pipes at the cemetery not only for Joseph Duelk, Jr., but also for fellow AOH Brothers Patrick Earley, Danny Strommer, Jack Breheny and John Walsh in what was beautiful day of remembrance and brotherhood.

AOH Division #1 Orange County – Celtic Festival at Palaia Vineyards

Palaia Winery is pleased to announce its first annual CELTIC FESTIVAL on June 20th – 12:00-6:00 $10/person kids under 12 free.  With the cooperation of AOH of Orange County, the AOH pipers will start it out at 12:00 with a grand entrance – then follows Irish step dancers, music performances including “Celtic Cross”, The Rose of Tralee and more.  Enjoy local Artist and vendors on the grounds with plenty of Beer, Wine, Hard Cider, Mead and more Beer.  Bouncy Slide for the kids as well as wagon rides thru the vineyard all day.  The tasting room in the barn will be open for tastings and more music.  Food is available from Rambers Rest, a local Irish/American restaurant in Monroe.  If you go: Palaia Winery is easy to find – we are located on Route 32 and Seaman Court Road in Highland Mills, NY. The AOH Joseph Duelk Jr. Division #1 of Monroe in Orange County will be hosting a Charity Dart Tournament to benefit Hibernians Charities on Saturday, September 20th.  The event will be held at The Monroe Irish Center, 8-10 North Main Street, Monroe NY 10950.

Registration will open at 4:00pm with a tournament start time scheduled at 7:00pm. The entry fee for the tournament is $20.00 per player.

This tournament will also feature World and Nationally Ranked Professional Dart Player Jim Windmayer!  There will be a opportunity for players to win a chance to play Jim head to head!  Tickets for this chance will be $5.00 each or 5 for $20.00.
