2018 March For Life – Washington, DC

Planning for the 2018 March For Life to be held in Washington, DC on Friday, January 19, 2018 is well underway.  The gathering will mark 45 years of Roe v. Wade in America – and sadly, the loss of nearly 60 million babies to abortion.

Last January’s March for Life  was a historic success including record participation, unprecedented media coverage and welcoming to the stage for the first time ever the Vice President of the United States of America!

We need all New York Hibernians to be represented in Washington DC. We ask each Division to fund-raise, collect or donate something to send an AOH contingent to DC in 2018.

Please try whether through a joint effort of collecting funds to lease a bus for your group of Hibernians, or attending the march another way. A dedicated effort by our Members proves more enjoyable in the long run and attracts new people to help the Pro Life cause. Men, women and children all benefit from attending the March For Life. It is more imperative than ever to make our Pro Life voice heard in our culture. A culture of life is the empowered choice. The time is now to build on the momentum.

Will your District, County or any Division be organizing a bus to the March for Life? If so what are the plans so far? Please email your participation plans to Jack O’Brien, NY State Pro Life Chairman at AOH11@Live.com

2017 National March for Life

power-of-one-2017

— Protect and Celebrate Life —

The National March for Life will be held on Friday, January 27, 2017 in Washington, DC. The theme for this year’s march is “The Power of One”  — One person can make a difference in the world, whether in the life of one person or many. Sadly, in the U.S. alone, 1 million babies are not even given the opportunity to live and change the world each year. Building a culture of life and ending abortion takes each and every person. Starting with your family or neighborhood, our collective efforts will change hearts and minds, save lives, and build a culture of life.

The March for Life continues to be a leader in the pro-life community and it is our goal to continue fight and inform the public on how we can overturn Roe v. Wade. Our job is not done until the voiceless have a voice that is heard. Realizing that no sound action can grow out of a vacuum of purpose, in 1974 the March for Life formulated and included in its charter of incorporation. Purposefully, the Life Principles are not framed in the negative tone of “thou shalt not,” and are framed in the positive tone of duty and responsibility of each human being and of society (source: March for Life).

Well over 100 people took part in a 30 minute procession which began at 12 noon and ended in Columbus Circle in Downtown Syracuse. Once there, the participants heard speeches from several speakers.

After the march there was a presentation by representatives from Fertility Care Choices, a local grassroots nonprofit that is dedicated to promoting the dignity of women by offering compassionate alternatives to those who are in need of assistance with their pregnancies. The group announced a bold move to purchase a house next door to the local Planned Parenthood facility that will enable them to accomplish this literally lifesaving mission. They are in the midst of raising funds for this project.
