AOH Division 1 Ulster County – The Hooley on the Hudson
August 31, 2014 @ 11:30 am - 9:00 pm
The Ancient Order of Hibernians, Fr. Con Colbert Woulfe Division 1, Ulster County, and the City of Kingston invite you and all of your friends to the annual Hooley on the Hudson XIII™ to be held on Sunday, August 31, 2014 (the day before Labor Day) from 11:30 AM until 9:00 PM at the beautiful waterfront at the T.R. Gallo Memorial Park on the Rondout Creek in historic Kingston, New York.
Our “Parade of Dignitaries” is one of the highlights of our Irish Festival and allows our marchers to meet with some of the 20,000 plus attendees from throughout the Northeast who have made “The Hooley” a place to gather and celebrate Irish culture with two stages of Irish music, a Storytelling Stage, and numerous food and craft vendors. Focused on family, this event is free to all, Irish or not. Indeed, many families and school groups have made “The Hooley” their meeting venue each year.
The Hooley on the Hudson XIII™ promises to surpass last year’s record- breaking attendance with the scheduled visit of Ireland’s Ambassador to the United States, Anne Anderson, as well as the internationally acclaimed Irish band, Black 47, making one of its final appearances at our venue before retiring after 25 successful years.
Highlights on our Tara Stage include the New York Show band, the Andy Cooney Band, and Philadelphia’s Barleyjuice. Local favorites on our Feeney Stage include Vince Fisher and Tom Kiernan, McGroovin,’ the Quinn Brothers Band, and MacCana. Our popular Spoken Word Stage headed by Kingston’s own “Story Teller Laureate” Karen Pillsworth offers professional story tellers Kate Danaher, Lorraine Hartin- Gerlardi, and Jim Hawkins enrapturing adults and children. Both music stages will offer our very own exhilarating Ulster County AOH Pipes and Drum Band led by our Honor Guard as well as the ever popular Irish dance with Celtic Heels and Irish- American modern dance with Solas an Lae.
