I have been asked by several Brothers about the changes to TRICARE insurance under the Affordable Care Act. The following is a summary of the changes.
TRICARE Retiree Dental
Effective October 1, 2013, all TRICARE Retirees Dental Program beneficiaries will be required to pay their monthly premiums by Electronic Funds Transfer or through military pay allotments. The ability to pay premiums by check or through an online bill pay system will end in September. Most TRPD enrollees will need to take no action; however, Delta Dental sent letters to all TRPD participants on July 19, 2013 with information on where to submit EFT authorization forms and how to submit an EFT authorization forms and how to send EFT authorization on line at www.trpd.com.
In February, TRICARE started a one-year pilot program requiring TFL beneficiaries to switch to home delivery for name brand maintenance medication refills. During the transition period, the program allowed for two courtesy retail pharmacy fills before being charged full price. Now that change is two months into the program, those who have not converted to home delivery yet may be subject to having to pay full price with their next attempted retail refill. If you are a TFL beneficiary and have not done so already, it is strongly recommended that you switch to home delivery to avoid unnecessary charges. FYI: Here is what Happened on January 1, 2014
Top Income Tax bracket went from 35% to 39.6%
Top income Payroll Tax went from 37.4% to 52.2%
Capital Gains Tax Went from 15% to 28%
Dividend Tax went from 15% to 39.6%
Estate Tax went from 0% to 55%
All these taxes were all passed under the Affordable Care Act, also known as Obama Care.
